Hello! I'm Steph

Through my brand "Aracnene", I sell digital patterns for crocheting amigurumis. My passion is to design unique and original pieces so that others can create their own. If you enjoy crochet, take a look, I hope to inspire you!

Even though I graduated as a dentist, a pandemic disrupted my career plans. Since the dental office was not the safest place to work, I decided to turn to my first passion as a second source of income: photography. The branch that caught my attention the most was "Newborn". While taking courses and setting up my studio, I realized that crocheted accessories were a constant in this field. Being a control freak, I decided to learn how to make them myself.

How did I get here?

Hi!

My name is Stephanie, the designer behind Aracnene. I'm 26 years old and mexican.

If you don´t know me...

I started crocheting in 2021. You might wonder, did no one in your family teach you before? Unfortunately, no. My paternal grandmother, a very crafty person (she sewed, knitted, embroidered, and much more), passed away when I was almost 6 years old, the age when many crocheters start. As silly as it may sound, I never thought to look for any tutorials because in my ignorance, I saw crochet as an art mastered only by older generations, and probably the only way to learn was if you had a teacher at home (you can imagine my surprise when I did my research).

Sometimes I call myself 'a "baby" in this world

I crossed paths with some crocheters and even asked for a fellow crafter's business card at a market, I was always so focused on school that I didn't have time to think or do anything else.

So, in a way, I appreciate the little disruption that the pandemic caused in my life.

Did I not know anyone else?

I gained several clients working as a photographer, I didn't feel comfortable having so much free time during the week. So, I thought about selling amigurumis to make the most of those leisure days. My path diverged once again, and in the blink of an eye, I went from 'I'll design a few amigus to grow my Instagram account' to doing it full-time.

Why did I transition from buying to selling patterns?

I appreciate all the people who supported and followed my work in the last year. "Aracnene" wouldn't have been possible without all of you.

With love

Thanks!

Steph
